The Ika South Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Comrade Augustine Amechi Igumbor, has commended the Delta State Government for the prevailing peace, law and order in the area.
Comrade Igumbor, who gave the commendation while fielding questions from newsmen in Agbor said the dissolution of the erstwhile executive of the union was sequel to negative security reports about the activities of the sacked leadership of the union.
He maintained that since the dissolution, the incidence of killing, kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes in the area had been reduced to the bearest minimum, adding that peace and stability had been restored in the area.
On the alleged threat to the life of the immediate past chairman of the union in the area, Comrade Igumbor urged the pubic particularly security agencies to discountenance such claim describing it was false, baseless and a figment of the imagination of the claimants.
The NURTW boss therefore advised the former chairman to stop crying wolf when there is none in sight insisting that such unfounded allegation was capable of misleading the public on the true position of things in the area.
Comrade Ignmbor also advised the Ika |South council authorities to join hands with the State Government in promoting peace and order in the area rather than indulge in acts capable of undermining the security of the area.
He criticized moves by the council authorities to approve private motor parks adding that such engagement might be counter productive and enjoined the leadership of the council to retrace its step.
