Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, have quizzed 22 lawmakers of Plateau State House of Assembly in connection with N880 million constituency project funds they allegedly got in 2007 and 2008.
The Lawmakers were guests of ICPC since last week as the Commission’s investigators took them in batches. The last batch of eight was attended to yesterday.
They have been facing barrage of questions over allegations that they did not utilise their constituency grants as expected.
In 2007, each of them was alleged to have received N20 million and were also alleged to have received N20 million each in 2008.
The ICPC operatives are looking into three areas; first to know how the contracts were awarded, second alleged inflation of the contracts and third, whether or not they actually executed the contracts.
After this first round of interrogation, an ICPC source said, the investigators would move to Plateau State to physically inspect the contracts.
When contacted, Mr. Folu Olamiti, ICPC Resident Consultant on Media, confirmed that the lawmakers have been guests of ICPC since last week.
