Nigeria’s Heartland FC are looking up to Zambia international forward Signs Wonder Chibambo to lead them to their first victory in the group phase of this year’s CAF Champions League against Ismaily of Egypt on Sunday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Beaten finalists in the same competition last year, Heartland languish at the foot of the standings with a point after three rounds of matches and having only scored once.
JS Kabylie of Algeria top the table with nine points, Al Ahly of Egypt are second having recorded four points, while Ismaily are on three points.
A fortnight ago, Heartland fell by a lone goal to Ismaily in the reverse fixture.
The coach of the ‘Naze Millionaires’, Samson Siasia, has already spoken in glowing terms about the 23_year_old Zambian striker, who has been picked for his country’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Comoros Islands next month.
“I am happy with the fact that Chibambo is back. He is a talented scorer, very strong and full of energy. We would see how he can help us against Ismaily,†remarked Siasia.
Chibambo rejoined the team this month after a proposed move to Al Masry of Egypt fell through.
