WARRI—DELTA State House of Assembly aspirant, Mr. Paul Bebenimibo, has called on the Itsekiri ethnic nationality to join forces with the Ijaw to develop Warri and fight their common enemies, which he described as poverty, oil multinationals and the Federal Government.
Mr. Bebenimibo, who is eyeing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ticket for Warri South-West constituency in next year’s House of Assembly election, said in an interview that the Ijaw and Itsekiri in the council were suffering the same problem and should, therefore, work together as brothers.
“The average Itsekiri man in the creeks is even suffering more than the Ijaw man. When the Ijaw requested for electricity from the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, and the company provided generating sets, we (Ijaw) also requested for the Itsekiri too, and they were provided for.
So the Ijaw are ever ready to partner with the Itsekiri to fight our common enemies of poverty, oil multi-nationals and indeed, the Federal Government of Nigeria,†he said.
