Amaechi extols virtues of late Justice Charles Granville

Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has described the late Justice Sokari Charles-Granville as a humble gentleman that made the state proud in the Judiciary.Governor Amaechi said this yesterday when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Justice Charles-Granville at his residence in Port Harcourt.

The governor, who said he received the news of the late Jurist’s death with a rude shock, noted that he never heard about his failing health and could not imagine him dead.

According to the governor, “I knew the late Justice Charles-Granville when Dr Peter Odili was the  Governor of Rivers State because both of us worked together in the portfolio of Sports and I know that he was a good man, a very nice gentleman”.

He assured the family that the state would assist to give him a befitting burial, while expressing the sympathy of his family and that of the state government, and urged the bereaved family members to take solace in the fact that the late jurist contributed his quota to the growth of society.

Responding on behalf of the family, the daughter of the deceased, Mrs Sotonye Amaechree thanked the governor for identifying with the family at the moment of their grief.
