N1b loan will trigger agric revolution in Anambra, AFAN

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Anambra said on Monday that the N1billion agricultural loan would trigger agricultural revolution in the state, when disbursed.

The state Chairman, Chief Nnamdi Mekor, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka.
Mekor, while reacting to the disclosure by the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Godson Ezenagu, on Thursday, described the development as a breakthrough in the agricultural sector.

Ezenagu had said that the state government had secured N1 billion from the N200 billion agricultural loan provided by the Federal Government.

“I can tell you that when the money is eventually given to our farmers, it will impact heavily on agricultural production in the state.

“It can really bring about mechanisation and will put food on the table of every person in our state,” he said.
He further said the loan would assist real farmers to expand their farms and guarantee food security.

“I cannot promise you that hunger will be wiped away immediately the money is released to our members, but before long, there will be food sufficiency and security in Anambra,” Mekor stressed.

The AFAN boss commended the state government for its commitment to the growth of agriculture and urged farmers to ensure that the money, when received, was judiciously utilised.
