ENUGU— All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, yesterday, condemned attempt by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to ‘conscript’ Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State into its fold, saying the move was a violation of the governor’s fundamental right to freedom of association as enshrined in Nigeria’s constitution.

Asking the PDP to stop mounting further pressures on Governor Orji,  APGA described the PDP’s offer as “a Greek gift and a gift of political death” which he must resist at all cost if he  was serious with his second term ambition.

National chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, who made this known while briefing reporters in Enugu on the recent political development in Abia State, said the move by the PDP to coerce Orji into dumping APGA, which he willingly declared for three weeks ago, also amounted to humiliating the leader of APGA, Chief Emeka Ojukwu, whom he described as the “only living conscience of the Igbo struggle in Nigeria.”
