koko — THE National President of the Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC, Mr. David Tonwe, yesterday, described as cruel and senseless, statement credited to the Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, “that protests by groups, who felt shortchanged in the recently advertised locations of projects to be awarded by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs were directed against his person, and such protests result from ulterior motives.â€
Speaking to our correspondent after an emergency meeting of the youths’ group at Koko, Delta State, yesterday, the Itsekiri youths body advised that instead of the Minister to embark on such desperate alibi of a tortuous and irresponsible nature, with the aim of demonising genuine protests, he should reflect and allow whatever degree of ‘good conscience’ that still resides in him to direct his action towards embarking on the process of immediate remediation, where the Itsekiri ethnic nation, which remains the highest oil producer in Delta State, will have projects allocated in their lands within the current financial year, and same published accordingly.
Tonwe further called on the minister not to delude himself by engaging in senseless and endless meetings with some opportunists and traitors among the Itsekiri “with the hope of dividing the resoluteness of our people.â€
According to the Itsekiri youths leader, the reported excuse by the minister that “not all groups in the region can be satisfied at the same time,†is nothing but a ploy to perpetuate his self-serving agenda.
