KANO — Kano State Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau who is expected to formally declare his Presidential ambition August 5 in Abuja has said he is not desperate to be the nation’s number one citizen.
Malam Ibrahim Shekarau told newsmen during a media parley last night that he would give the contest all the seriousness it deserved to achieve victory.
Malam Shekarau explained that he was in the Presidential race having at the back of his mind that it could turn either way for him pointing out that he will not be involved in unconventional method to make things happen in his favour.
“We are going into this contest with our conscience very clear that we may win and we may not win, it is just like life, there is time to be born and there is time to die and in between is the time to live,” Malam Shekarau said.
The Kano State Governor who is aspiring for the sole ticket of his party, ANPP declared that the decision to offer himself for the job was reached following a wide consultation among his circle of friends and well wishers, adding that their words of encouragement had compelled him take up the challenge.
Malam Shekarau revealed that though he is constrained to declare his manifestoes now because of the hurdles of primary elections but however hinted that he will export human development and social justice to the federal level to achieve stability.
‘Human development and social justice, is going to be my guiding principle, if there is no social justice it leads to loss of confidence, breakdown of law and order, this is why we decided that ours will be based on human development and social justice.”
