UGHELLI —  A Federal House of Representative hopeful in the Isoko federal constituency, Mr. Emmanuel Okoro, has vowed to give the Isoko people adequate representation if voted into power.

Okoro, who is the pioneer Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, said the area was yearning for effective and purposeful representation in the National Assembly. He said apart from lawmaking at the  House of Representatives, he would liaise with relevant agencies to attract federal presence to Isoko land if given the mandate.

The aspirant who spoke when he visited the Isoko Elders’ Forum at Emede, said he was seeking election into the House of Representatives, not for the fun of it, but because of his passion to serve and recalled that as the pioneer Speaker in the state,  he contributed to laying the foundation for democratic structures in the state.

“I am here to seek for your support irrespective of political affiliation to give me the mandate to bridge the gap between Isoko nation and the Federal Government. Isoko is a major contributor to the oil based economy of this country, and we deserve to be treated well via good representation.”

Responding on behalf of the Isoko Elders’ Forum, the Chairman, Chief Dennis Etaluku commended Okoro for recognizing the forum by consulting with them, adding that the Isoko people would no longer tolerate a situation where candidates were imposed on them.

In a related development, a grassroots politician and aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly, Isoko South Constituency II, Chief Iduh Amadhe, has been commended by the Isoko elders.

Amadhe who presented his manifestoes titled,  “The Man Iduh Amadhe” to the elders in an enlarged meeting of the forum held at Igbide,  said “the time has come to do away with politics of sentiment and allow the right peg to occupy the right hole if Isoko nation must move forward. I want to serve, I have served Isoko and mankind in several capacities but this time give me the chance to contribute at a high level.”
