ETB presents cars to 17th National Sports Festival LOC
Equitorial Trust Bank, the Lead Bank sponsor of the 17th National Sports Festival (Garden City Games 2010) holding in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Tuesday, presented 10 Toyota Corolla 2010 model cars to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the games holding later in the year.
Speaking before the presentation of the cars which is part of the sponsorship deal for the games, Mr. Femi Obaleke, Executive Director, Commercial & Institutional Banking, ETB, assured the state government of the bank’s readiness to collaborate with the LOC to ensure the games’ success.
Obaleke noted that the appointment of ETB did not come as a surprise.
“ETB, over the years, has consolidated and positioned itself as not just a bank that partners customers to success but understands the economic opportunities in present day Nigeria and is geared towards supporting customers including governments, to take advantage of these opportunities.â€
As a leading bank in the South South and other parts of the country, Obaleke stated that the bank is poised to partner with the state government to host a memorable competition.
“We have the required expertise to ensure the success of the games and we want to assure the Rivers State government that with the support of ETB, the games will be successfulâ€, he added.
Towards achieving this feat, he stated that the bank has deployed resources to ensure that adequate support is given to the LOC to guarantee the successful hosting of the games.
He added that this will further consolidate ETB’s stronghold and dominance in the market place especially in the handling of projects of this magnitude.
He expressed the profound gratitude of the bank to the LOC and the state government for the choice of ETB as the lead bank for the games with an assurance that ETB will meet the expectations of the state government in line with the jointly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
ETB’s Executive Director went further to commend the state government for putting in place adequate infrastructure to ensure the success of the games especially the constitution of a strong 23-man LOC comprising seasoned professionals and administrators of note and headed by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Engr. Tele Ikuru.
In his remarks, chairman of LOC, Engr Ikuru, noted that the state government is happy to host the games this year as the country celebrates 50 years of independence and assured that the Garden City Games will be golden.
In His words, “‘ETB, having rolled out its full sponsorship package to partner with Rivers State Government, will also emerge as a golden bank as their name will be written in gold after the games.â€
While thanking the bank for donating the state-of-the-art cars, Ikuru declared that the process for choosing the lead bank was very rigorous and transparent as all banks were requested to make presentation to the LOC.
“ETB emerged the best bank based on her quality presentation and track record in handling events of this magnitude.â€
