CHAIRMAN of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, NIQS, Delta State Chapter, Mr. Peter Johnson Effam and another member of the institute in the state, Mr. F.S. Ekurume have been invested as fellows of the institute, FNIQS.
At ceremony in Abuja, the duo of Messrs Effam and Ekurume, were among the six Nigerians that were invested as fellows of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors during a three day International Workshop which took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’ Adua Centre.
During the workshop which has Public Private Partnership Approach to Infrastructure Provision in Nigeria as its theme, three Quantity Surveyors from Delta State were, also inducted into the NIQS.
They included Messrs Clement Okogo, Pendah Etoh and Mr. Francis Okorho.
Addressing the newly invested fellows and the inducted members of the institute, the NIQS President,  Chief Felix Okereke Onyeri, congratulated them on their investiture and induction into the institute respectively.
Chief Onyeri noted that quantity surveyors play pivotal role in the building and construction industry of any economy vis-Ã -vis cost management and implored the new fellows and inductees to be good ambassadors of the institute.
According to him, quantity surveyors should strive at all times to promote the high ethical standard for which the institute was reputed, adding that quantity surveyors should not do any thing capable of tarnishing the corporate image of the NIQS.
Speaking after the ceremony, the Delta State Chairman of the institute, Mr. Peter Johnson Effam, thanked to God for making it possible for his contributions to the institute to be recognized through his investiture.
He said that his elevation to the status of a fellow of the institute would spur him for greater achievements in his professional career and urged quantity surveyors in Delta state who are yet to be inducted into the NIQS to be honest, hardworking and diligent.
Mr. Effam added that they should seek first, the professional satisfaction in the profession to enable them get qualified into the institute.
