The executive chairman of the Delta State Sports Council, Pinnick Amaju has commended President Goodluck Jonathan over his decision to reverse the two-year ban on all national football teams, saying Nigerian football will ever be greatful to him.
Speaking to Sports Vanguard soon after the twist in recent developments concerning the countryâ€™s football, Amaju said, â€œI commend the Presidentâ€™s maturity in the whole matter. It shows that he is a true leader and Nigerian football will forever remain indebted to him.â€
He said he was happy at the manner the issue was resolved a, which to him showed Nigeriaâ€™s capacity to handle what ordinarily appears to be delicate issues with ease.
â€œWe have once again proved to the world that we are a great country. It is left for us to recognise this quality in us to become a truly great nation. Our president has shown that he is a listening leader. This a great quality of leadership.â€Amaju enthused.
He urged the authorities to learn from this and ensure Nigerian football was run in a manner that will ensure the game was developed at all levels.
â€œDefinitely, there a lessons to be learnt from the unfolding events. We must move forward and chart a new course for our football. We must ensure development oriented programmes are put in place and the next FA must be transparent to win back the confidence of our countrymen and women in football.â€
