Nigeria’s team at the FIFA Under-20 Women World Cup, the Falconets are fired up as they prepare to face Colombia in tomorrow’s semi-final clash.

CELEBRATION... Nigeria's Falconets celebrates scoring a penalty during the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Quarter Final match against USA on Sunday.

According to the team coach, Edat Egan the girls have shaken off the euphoria of beating defending champions USA to reach their first ever semi-final in three attempts, and are eagerly waiting to take on Colombia.

“We have put that behind us and looking forward to the next game. The girls are in high spirit and are ready to go all the way,” said the coach.
Nigeria shocked the USA to set up a semi-final clash with debutante Colombia. The Colombians will be facing a Nigerian team that loves to impose themselves on the game and fight to the finish as they displayed against the USA.

The Colombians basking in the joy of a good outing in their first World Cup,  will however, try to outsmart the Falconets and make history. But according to striker, Ebere Orji the Falconets will not disappoint, even though she is down on her luck on goal scoring.

“I want to help out my team with my ability to put the ball in the net. But for the moment I’m not having much luck in that department,” said Orji who with strike partner Desire Oparanozie have been responsible for most of the Falconets goals so far.

FIFA Women Committee member Ayo Omidiran backed the Falconets to beat the Colombians and earn their deserved place in the final.

“After seeing what they did in the game against the USA. I’m more convince that they should be able to overcome Colombia and in the final.”
