UGHELLI — THE Publicity Secretary of the Ughelli South Peoples Forum, USPF, Mr. Emmanuel Ohwofasa, says the group has not adopted a particular aspirant for the Ughelli South State Constituency seat into the Delta State House of Assembly.

A newspaper (not Vanguard) had reported that the Ughelli South Peoples Forum, had adopted one Mr. M. Emuvakpor as the aspirant for the Ughelli Constituency seat.

But Mr. Emmanuel, in a statement, yesterday, denied the group ever adopting the said aspirant, adding that given that there were other contenders for the said seat, there was no way it could have adopted a particular aspirant.

“We wish to state categorically that it was true.  Mr. Emuvakpor and his supporters visited our group, just like any others and being a political pressure group in Ughelli South Local Government Area headed by Mr. Lucky Avweromre as the co-ordinator.

“The co-ordinator of the group, being the pioneer Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leader in  Ughelli South Legislative Council, couldn’t have made a statement, purporting an outright adoption of an aspirant in the person of Mr. Emuvakpor into the Delta State House of Assembly,  knowing fully well that there are other aspirants also vying for the said position.

“The said ‘adoption’ meeting held at a place near the residence of the Deputy Governor and not his residence is misconstrued and insinuated,” he said.

Ohwofasa pledged the loyalty of the group to the state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and his Deputy, Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN,  and aligned the interest of the group to the programmes and policies of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

“USPF supports wholesale the issue of ‘one man’ one vote as canvassed by Governor Uduaghan,” he said.
