LAGOS — The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, yesterday said it would impose certain restrictions on exhibition at the forth coming Lagos International Trade Fair holding between November 5 and14
Speaking at the presentation of the prospectus, Chairman of the Trade Promotion Board, Alhaji Remi Bello, said one of the major restrictions at the 2010 trade fair would be that all exhibitions would be held inside the halls except for banks and exhibitors with heavy equipment.
He also added that exhibitors who bring in fake goods to the fair ground would have their goods impounded.
“The Chamber has learnt lessons from the experience in the past years, and these lessons have translated to a fair that have gotten better with each successive year. Let me assure you that the 2010 edition will not be bereft of these benefits†he said.
He disclosed that the chamber will have a customer care desk, where products that are substandard are reported to within 24 hours of purchase and must have receipts to show for it.
According to him, the theme of the fair for 2010 is “Promoting Business Confidence to Enhance Economic Recoveryâ€, a theme which he said was brought out of the chamber’s believe that for the economic prosperity, which is the ultimate aim of all economic activities, there must be conscious attempt at recovery from the meltdown and that the fair is to be used as a strategic tool in promoting business confidence, which is in no doubt at its lowest ebb, in enhancing the so much required recovery.
Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi, the special guest of honour and presenter of the prospectus, urged corporate bodies in the manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, banking and finance, oil and gas, ICT, the entire spectrum of the SMEs and all foreign investors to take advantage of the fair to show case there products and services to the largest market in Africa, adding that the consistent patronage of the fair by local and foreign exhibitors clearly reflects the delivery of value by the organisers.
“I vouchsafe that participation in Lagos International Trade Fair is a good deal any day, you have every thing to gain and only your business worries to lose!†he said.
