Martisn cut a forlorn figur as he left after Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with South Korea that eliminated the Super Eagles from the tournament, and did not hold back in airing his disappointment.

“Of course. I am disappointed. I want to play more games, I want to help my country but it is a big disappointment that I did not play enough.

“These people, they did not want to play me,” Martins said. But he refused to criticise Lagerback and his team.
“I think they did what they thought was best for the team, but I believe that I should have played more to help the team.“We are a good team and we are good enough to make the second round, but its football.”
