Princewill Ekwujuru
For too long,  an appreciable share of the Electronics market has eluded Samsung Electronics, based on this scenario, the company in a recent distributors forum vowed to increase its market share in Nigeria and other regions of Africa.

Mr Kwangki Park, President of Samsung Electronics Africa, had hinted this during the 2010 Distributors forum in Lagos, where he stressed that Samsung was better positioned to take its rightful leadership position in Nigeria and Africa markets.

According to Park who was full of praises for the Nigerian consumers whom he said are appreciative of good products, “Samsung Electronics would meet the need of the consumers with innovative products, he assured.”

He disclosed that Samsung Electronics is number one in many countries of the world, stressing that its competitors are enjoying the lead in terms of market share presently because they arrived Nigeria and other African countries before Samsung.

He however, pointed out that “this is the right time to come to Nigeria and Africa’’. He said Samsung has many good products to turn the table against its competition. ‘’We have good and innovative products and we know that Nigerians know and appreciate good things,” he said.

He said the Distributors’ Forum being hosted by Samsung Electronics; West Africa was aimed at bringing major distributors from across the regions of Africa to have heart_to_heart discussions on how to reposition the brand in Africa and Nigeria in particular.

According to him, Nigeria is a strategic market for Samsung, given its large and sophisticated population, adding that the distributors are being encouraged to make the products readily available at the door_step of the consumers across the regions.
He disclosed that Nigeria is the regional Headquarters of Samsung Electronics in West Africa, adding that 20 distributors from each country of Africa were in Nigeria to strategize on how to move the brand forward in the region.

Park however, noted that Samsung would soon take its rightful position in Nigeria as the distributors have shown extra_ordinary enthusiasm in their resolve to move the brand forward and increase its market share.

He said the distributors’ forum is being moved across the regions of Africa, noting that the party would move to Nairobi, Kenya next week where distributors would continue their discussions on how to reposition the brand and make it number one in the market.

“We are in Nigeria to listen to each country’s consumers through the distributors and look into their needs and aspirations’”, he said, stressing that “our presence here is indicative of our commitment to grow this market and we shall do just that.”

Speaking in the same vein, Head of Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics, West Africa, Mrs Funke Michaels_Ntekim, noted that the distributors’ forum could not have come at a more auspicious time. She described the distributors as a critical integral part of the business.
