THE National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo has described the death of former National Secretary, Chief Bernard Ezeh as shocking and unbelievable.
It would be recalled that Chief Bernard Ezeh was one of the major contenders for the post of the party’s National Chairman before the ratification of Dr. Nwodo at the party’s last National Executive Committee, NEC meeting held on Thursday, June 17, 2010.
Ezeh who died at the National Hospital, Abuja in his late fifties, was said be in fragile health even during the fight for who replaces Prince Vincent Ogbulafor as the 6th National Chairman of the Party.
He was the party’s National Auditor during Amadu Ali’s tenure, but had to step into the shoes of Ojo Maduekwe when he became a Minister as the National Secretary of the party.
He ended the tenure of the South East when the position was zoned to the South East. The late Ezeh from Enugu State replaced Maduekwe who hails from Abia State.
Chief Benard Eze came into political limelight in Nigeria when he emerged as acting National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP under Olusegun Obasanjo administration. He took over from Ojo Maduekwe as the PDP scribe and handed over to Prince Vincent Ogbulafor who later emerged National Chairman of the ruling party.
