ABUJA—The Minister of Special Duties, Navy Captain Omoniyi Olubolade (rtd) has attributed the slow pace of infrastructural development of Abuja to the delay in the payment of compensation to indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Briefing newsmen, yesterday, at the end of the inspection of Federal projects in the country, Navy Capt Olubolade said the rate of infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory did not match the influx of people into Abuja.
According to him, the report on the effect of the compensation on Abuja’s development would be forwarded to President Goodluck Jonathan for appraisal with a view to taking urgent steps towards addressing the problem.
“We cannot allow this to continue delaying the contractors work. It is either we pay them their compensation fee or we relocate them. Let’s play our roles by ensuring that compensation is paid to enable the completion of the roadsâ€, he said.
