Nigeria’s leading sprinter, Ogho-Oghene Egwero is aiming to improve on the 10.13 seconds he did at the Lagos leg of the Golden League in May.
As the athletes size up themselves this afternoon at the ‘Heartland’ turf, Egwero is focused on his quest to join the world elite of sub ten seconds runners. His coach, Paul Obodoechina is backing him to pull away from the crowd at the Dan Anyiam Stadium and come up with a heart warming result. “He is hoping to do better than 10.13 seconds. He has been working hard at and we are positive that sooner or later he will do a sub 10,†said Coach Obodoechina.
Egwero was not in the last leg of the golden league decided at the Aper Aku stadium Makurdi. He went to Europe to try his try his luck. At the Anhalt meet in Dessau, Germany Egwero finished 10.30 seconds while in Greece he did 10.38 seconds.
“In Europe he didn’t run the kind of race he wanted. This was because there was no time to get used to the weather. He did the 10.30 in driving ran and that was not a bad effort,†added Obodoechina.
