WARRI—IRKED by alleged existing political imbalances in Uvwie/Okpe/Sapele Federal constituency, a presure group, Uvwie Women in Politics, has said it was the turn of Uvwie to produce the member who will represent the area in the Federal House of Representatives in 2011.
The women also nominated Mr. Moore Ologitere as the ideal candidate to represent the constituency in the next dispensation.
This position was taken after a consultative meeting of the Uvwie Women in Politics at Effurun last weekend.
Leader of the women, Mrs. Doris Onoyeke, regretted that since the advent of politics in Nigeria, Uvwie had never produced a member for the Federal seat either at the lower or the upper house of the National Assembly.
She appealed to Okpe people to show some understanding on the matter, describing Mr. Ologitere as a gentle, intelligent and quiet man that commanded popularity at Sapele, Okpe and Uvwie.
“We pray and believe that Mr. Ologitere will deliver the people to the promised land,†Onoyeke said.
Mr. Nicholas Okoradje, a renowned Uvwie politician, described the consultative meeting as very successful, stressing that the presence of opinion leaders and distinguished women politicians in the area corroborated the fact that Ologitere was acceptable for the job.
