UK group expresses fears on Nigeria at 50

The All Youth Association of Nigeria (AYAN) United Kingdom chapter has expressed mixed feelings over Nigeria’s political system. 

In a letter addressed to President Goodluck Jonathan, and signed by its Chairman , Daniel Ohiooba, AYAN UK said, at fifty Nigeria should have advanced from politics of ethnic, tribal and primordial sentiments and moved on to a great nation that should compete favourably with the technologically advanced nations of America, Europe and Asia.

However, the group said it is set to support the government of President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that opinion poll gathered through SMS and internet showed that the President is highly acceptable to the Nigerian people.

According to AYAN UK, “we have watched with keen interest your activities which can be attested to by the land mark decisions exhibited by your good self as follows; personal handling of the power sector, which is critical to our economic growth, your commitment aver political vision on the electoral reforms, setting up of the presidential National Advisory committee, personally reviewing and accepting to implement their report to measurable limit.”

On the other hand, the Executives and entire members of AYAN have sent its condolence message to the President on the demise of the late President Musa Yar’Adua and a congratulatory message to the President on his new appointment as the President and Commander- In- Chief of the Federation.
