Police advocate security for Nigerian child

The world stood still for Children on Thursday, May 27,  as they marked the day set to celebrate their existence in grand style. In one of the events organised to mark the special day in Lagos, the PRO of Lagos State police command Mr Frank Mba emphasized the need for enhancing security around the Nigerian child.

Mr Mba, speaking at an event tagged, “Behold the Nigerian golden child”, held  at Nice and Touch event centre, along Ago palace way,  Okota area of Lagos, disclosed that to provide security to the Nigerian child, the police force has provided line 112 and 767 as emergency lines for children.

These emergency lines, according him, would serve the urgent need to uniformed men in the event of fire outbreak, distress calls and other eventualities.

Speaking in the same vein, Mrs Ngwoke Stella from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency advised the children to be good citizens by staying  away from drugs, adding that the effects of drug abuse on the young ones are devastating.

According to her, drugs can be abused when it is not medically necessary, legally prohibited or used in excess. “Some of these drugs which affect the brain include alcohol, tobacco, stimulants, narcotics, cannabis and others.” she added.

Also, gracing the event from the entertainment circle were; Ann Njemanze, Blossom, Mc DannyB and Shaggy plus pastor Goody Goody and many  others.

Founder of heartland and tours, organisers of the event,  Chief C.C Igwe Ihedioha said, the event was put together as a result of his love the young ones.
