Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko yesterday led thousands of people in the state including top government functionaries on a symbolic Pro-Electoral walk and rally with a stern warning that the era of electoral malpractices, snatching of ballot materials, political thuggery and intimidations of the electorate were gone forever in the state.
Mimiko in his address to the mammoth crowd who braved an early morning rain to walk for democracy enjoined them to remain firm in their resolve for a comprehensive political reform.
According to him, Nigeria has become a cynosure of all eyes in anticipation of a free and fair election in 2011 adding that all must strive to ensure that the principle of one man, one vote as a panacea for credible election in Nigeria become the order of the day.
“The vote of the common man is sacrosanct and must be the singular determining factor for the legitimacy of political leadership. Our votes are indeed our future”.
