OWERRI— Labour leaders in Imo State have described the creation of 10,000 job opportunities by the Ikedi Ohakim administration as “the first of its kind in the state.â€
This is contained in an address jointly put together by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, delivered by the State NLC Chairman, Mr Romanus Nduka during the May Day celebration in Owerri.
“Your Excellency’s (Ikedi Ohakim) interest in creating job opportunities for 10,000 graduates of Imo extraction, has indeed etched his name in gold in the annals of history,†the labour leaders said.
According to workers leaders, “what makes a man popular is not how much wealth he has acquired but the element of human sympathy therein.â€
Their only worry was that the state government did not allow the statutory body charged with the responsibility of handling such routine jobs to play its role in this exercise.
