Abuja—The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, yesterday threatened to hand over corrupt officials in the administration to the anti-graft agencies. He issued the threat at the inaugural meeting of the new FCT Executive Committee, EXCO.
Mohammed charged the officials to shun all forms of corrupt practices and be committed to the service of humanity. He warned that his administration would not condone any act of corruption.
He said “I must place on record our zero tolerance for corruption in all its ramifications. Any act of misappropriation, misapplication or outright embezzlement of public funds will not be taken lightly.
“We will not hesitate to hand over offenders to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, or the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other related Offences Commission, ICPC, for prosecution.
“Henceforth, budgeted funds must be fully accounted for in the various sectors you are assigned to oversee, and you will be held responsible if your areas of jurisdiction fail to deliver provable results.â€
While demanding for efficient service delivery, transparency, accountability and probity from them, Mohammed urged the officials to give their total loyalty to the Federal Government.
