ADO-EKITI—The 13 Action Congress, AC, lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly have expressed disappointment over the judgement of Justice Hamma Barka-led Election Petition Tribunal, saying the judgement has derailed the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state.
The tribunal chairman with two other members of the tribunal had ruled in favour of the governor, while Justice Abiodun Adebara, also with one other justice had kicked against the judgment in their minority judgment.
The lawmakers who spoke through their leaders, Mr Funminiyi Afuye lamented that the judgement had posed a serious challenge not only to the judiciary but as well as the human rights groups and the media.
Afuye who was flanked with his other colleagues in the House expressed shock with the judgment, especially the majority judgment, noting that the institution that supposed to be the last hope of the people, had turned back to neglect them at a trying period.
The lawmakers, however, expressed hope that the Appeal Court, sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State would do a thorough justice by putting aside the judgements of Barka’s and Adebara’s before coming up with a position.
