Nigeria international defender Elderson Echiejile has quit what one of his handlers described as “French hell†to sign a four-year deal with top Portuguese club Sporting Braga.
Echiejile, 22, has had to endure a torrid time at French club Rennes this past season during which he did not see action “not for football reasonsâ€, according to a source close to the player.
However, all that is now in the past after the former youth international signed for Sporting Braga as a free agent.
“He has signed a four-year contract with Braga, who finished runners-up in the Portuguese league and will feature in the UEFA Champions League next season,†the player’s adviser, Emmanuel Echiejile, told only MTNFootball.com.
“He has already visited the club to see for himself their facilities and he has been very pleased with their ambitions.
“Both the coach and the club president want him. It’s a move that opens a lot of opportunities for Elderson.â€
