Inactivity of the Eagles in recent months manifested in the team, dropping a step down on the FIFA rankings for the month May.
The Eagles who laboured to a goalless draw against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday perched at 21 from the previous 20th position they occupied,Â ahead of the 2010 World Cup starting in June.
African World Cup teams Cameroon remained at 19th, Coteâ€™d Ivoire was also rooted at 27 position,Â Ghana moved two places down from 30 to 32, while Algeria moved two places up to berth at the 30th position. Hosts South Africa moved up seven places from 90 to 83. It is the first time a country outside the top 20 is hosting the tournament.
Egypt, which did not qualify for the World Cup was 12th in the global ranking having moved one place up.
World Cup favourites, Brazil, continue to occupy the top spot in the world ranking ahead of Spain and Portugal.
