WARRIâ€”FORMER Information Minister and South-South leader,Â ChiefÂ Edwin Clark, has been described as an indefatigable leader,Â who has committed his time and resources to the fight against gross marginalization of the people of the oil rich Niger Delta and for the betterment of the Niger Deltans and Nigerian masses.
Chief Godwin Ogbetuo,Â Chairman, National Working Committee of Delta Elders and Stakeholders Forum and National Chairman of the Urhobo Patriots, who made these remarks, said Chief Clark has been a beacon of hope, peace and commended him for his doggedness as he marks his 83rd birthday.
Chief Ogbetuo pointed out that ChiefÂ Clark is a blessing not only to the South-South but the entire Nigeria as he has been contributing to national development and peace in the last 40 years,Â adding that he is ever strong, meticulous, balanced mentally, focused and result oriented on national issues.
According to him â€œcurrently,Â he is the foremost leader of Ijaw people as well as Niger Delta and the South-South zone. He has fought and continues to fight for the increase of the oil derivation funds from 13% to 25% and subsequently to 50% for the development of Niger Delta that is producing the nationâ€™s oil and gas.
â€œHe is fighting against poverty, marginalization and dehumanization that our people (Niger Delta) are contending with from successive Nigerian governments. He has led us and resolved all issues with wisdom,” he added.
