U.S. carrier, Delta Airlines, would next week commence direct flight operations to New York from Abuja.
The airline had earlier last year, started flight operations from Abuja to New York en route Dakar, Senegal.
Delta’ Commercial Manager, West and East Africa, Bobby Bryan, told newsmen at a briefing in Lagos yesterday that the introduction of direct connection between Abuja and New York was to save Nigerian travellers the problems of having to go through the Senegalese capital.
According to him, the Abuja operation to New York is to complement the direct flight operations  from Lagos to Atlanta.
“There continues to be a good demand for service between Nigeria and the United States and in 2009, Delta carried more than 110,000 passengers.”
“Delta is continuing to develop its service offerings between Nigeria and the United States, and I am delighted to announce that this Summer, Delta will operate a seasonal non-stop service between Abuja and New York.
