Football talent hunt is not a new programme in Nigeria. The modus operandi has always been similar and winners have always been rewarded handsomely. Some have gone home with either car or monetary rewards which had served as great motivation for contestants.
But there is something new in the offing. International Stars Network Limited has fresh ideas about talent hunt and the co-ordinator, Okechukwu Ihuoma, said it would no doubt, make a huge difference.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos at the weekend, Ihuoma, who is a licensed FIFA players’ agent, disclosed that the talent hunt programme which kicks off soon after the World Cup will be organised throughout the country with former Nigerian international, Daniel Amokachi, as the anchorman.
“The programmes has been designed in a way that can give all sections of the country a fair chance and for all to be given equal opportunity to come out for the trials so that they can be selected for a potential career in top European clubs,†Ihuoma said, pointing out that his organisation had entered into strategic partnership with clubs like Dynamo Kiev, Barcelona, Sevilla, FC Auxerre and FC Olympio of Maldova.â€
He said the clubs will send their agents toNigeria during the trials and players who show good potentials could be selected by the various scouts to further their careers abroad.
“These clubs will provide a platform for the players and we are happy to work with them in that respect.â€
