Abia pledges support to Commonwealth Wrestling Championship

Abia State government on Thursday assured that  it would give its total support to the successful hosting of the World Wrestling Professional (WWP) Commonwealth Championship which will be staged in Nigeria in October.

The state governor, Theodore Orji, who made this assurance when he received the local organising committee LOC of the championship at the Abia State governor’s lodge in Abuja noted that the state has severally supported the ambitions of its son, The Ultimate Commander,  as he strives to rewrite the name of the state and Nigeria in the sport of wrestling.

The governor, who regretted that Nigeria has not been able to produce a world acclaimed wrestler since the death of former world wrestling champion, Power Mike, urged The Ultimate Commander not to relent in his effort to make the state proud in wrestling, adding that the government understands the capital intensive nature of the sports and would be ready to offer any assistance when ever it is called upon for the championship to become successful.

“I know The Ultimate Commander has all the potentials that make him a world champion in an organised wrestling championship. And I want to assure both the LOC and The Commander that Abia will do everything possible for the championship to be successful in Nigeria” assured the governor who disclosed that Enyimba stadium in Aba will be made to become an edifice for the WWP Commonwealth wrestling championship.
