Yobe records 6 cases of meningitis

DAMATURU — Six cases of cerebro-spinal meningitis has been recorded in Yobe State.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Bukar Machinama.

The commissioner then  advised the people to take clean water and observe hygiene in their homes. He further warned the residents to desist from sleeping in crowded and unventilated rooms, saying the increasing heat in the area could cause health hazard.

Machinama who spoke to Vanguard in Damaturu said: “People should limit their activities in the sunny weather with its attendant dust.”

He, however, said drugs for the treatment of malaria and other common ailments had been provided by the government in all the hospitals in the state.
