CALABAR—Another round of windstorm that occurred at Debia, Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State, last weekend, has claimed a 13- year- old boy, Master Joseph Atinikongye. Â
The rains had come heavily on the peaceful community, causing a lot of havoc to structures in the village.
One of the villagers who was trapped in the farm by the storm was Master Joseph Atinikongye.
Having gone to the stream with his younger one to fetch water, he was unfortunately caught up in the storm and decided to rush home with the younger brother.
About a short distance from their house, however, a wall fell on Joseph Atinikongye who had a bucket of water on his head.
When his younger brother glanced backwards, according sources, he discovered his brother was trapped. The source said he tried to rescue him by pulling him out, adding that when neighbours saw what was happening, they tried to get him out of the rubble, but found he was already dead.
The father, Mr. Atinikongye, said the loss of the boy was devastating to the family.
