The Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has said the lure for power is the reason behind the destructive politics being played against him by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole.
He spoke through his Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. ‘Sina Kawonise, during a chat, on Thursday with Saturday Vanguard in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
According to the commissioner, the governor found it laughable where the Speaker presented himself to the public as if he was the doer of all things in Ogun State, noting that at his level, Hon. Bankole should know that constituency projects, which every lawmaker in his House got budget for, were different from state projects.
He challenged him to prove himself if he was saying the truth.
“Let him come around with the media, we will give him all the support; so let him take the media people to those places and let them see and beam to the whole world. That is the challenge we are giving him.â€
Hon. Bankole, according to Governor Daniel, wanted him down because of his ambition to become the next governor of Ogun State, which he said was understandable but that, such ambition should have been devoid of hatred and envy.
He said the relationship between Daniel and his immediate predecessor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, was cordial.
