New Honourable Minister/Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Honourable Ibrahim Isah Bio, Tuesday, led out a delegation of top Nigerian officials to South Africa for inspection of the Super Eagles’ team base camp and training site.
“We are going to check out the place and see if the management of the hotel and the management of the school where the training site is located have fulfilled their words. We gave them some specifications and requirements during our last visit and they promised to get all these done before the end of the month of Aprilâ€, said NFF President Sani Lulu Abdullahi.
Director General of the National Sports Commission, Chief Patrick Ekeji, was also on the trip, as well as NFF Technical Committee Chairman, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, General Secretary, Bolaji Ojo-Oba and Head of Marketing, Idris Adama.
There has been reports about the suitability or not of the Hampshire Hotel in Ballito, near Durban but NFF President Lulu Abdullahi dismissed all the talks and said it is important to go see how far the work has gone before making categorical statements.
“When we went the last time, we pointed out some things to the management and we believe that they must have taken care of those areas. At the same time, we mandated some persons in the Nigeria High Commission in South Africa to be checking out the place for us and feed us back on how far the work was going. We’re not worried.â€
Nigeria will play in Group B of the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals alongside Argentina, Greece and Korea Republic.
