Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State has charged religious leaders to use their sacred position to promote acts that will unite us as a country and de-emphasize those things capable of dividing us.
The governor in a in his Easter message to the residents in the state issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Masâ€™ud Adebimpe and made available to Vanguard in Ilorin Sunday equally, urged Christians to use the Easter period to rededicate themselves to the service of God and sacrifice in line with the examples set by Jesus Christ.
He appealed to Nigerians to continue to sustain love and genuine care for their neighbours irrespective of religious belief, in the true spirit of Easter celebration.
Saraki alsoÂ enjoined Christian faithful to continue to live together in peace and harmony with adherents of other faiths to promote religious harmony, noting that “the country is going through a trying period, hence the need for us to live together as an indivisible entity.”
He said the suffering, crucifixion and eventual resurrection of Jesus Christ were the climax of His mission on earth, which was for the redemption of mankind and their restoration to the glory of God, the creator.
