MAKURDI â€” TheÂ Â Â ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has assured all aspirants to elective positions on its platform of a level playing field in the forthcoming primaries of the party.
Chairman of the party in Benue State, Dr Agbo Emmanuel, gave the assurance while receiving in audience Mr Mike Bul, an aspirant for the Benue North-East Senatorial seat in the forthcoming elections.
Agbo said the party would ensure that all aspirants on the platform of the party were availed equal opportunities to test their popularity among the electorate.
He said the party had not anointed any of the aspirants, neither was it according special treatments to perceived big names in the forthcoming elections, assuring that the zoning arrangement of the party would not be jettisoned for whatever reason.
The party chairman urged the Senatorial hopeful to peacefully go about his campaign.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr Bul had intimated the leadership of the PDP in Benue State of his intension to run for the Benue North East Senatorial seat on the platform of the party.
He said he was in the race because the zoning arrangement favoured his people who had also urged him to represent them at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
Bul said he was in the race to provide his people purposeful representation to attract federal presence to his constituency.
The Senatorial hopeful recounted some of the developmental projects he had undertaken as a private citizen, promising to take these efforts to another level if elected a Senator.
