Pastor, Three Others In Kidnap Mess

Pastor Akpan

LIKE the biblical Rachel who wept uncontrollably and refused to be consoled over the massacre of her children, Mrs Marian Kalu has vowed not to sleep until she sets her eyes on her daughter, Chinedu,  whom she took to a church for a  spiritual cleansing but disappeared into thin air, hours later in the church.

To her, Miss Chinedu Kalu could not have developed wings and flown to an unknown destination if the pastor and some senior members have no knowledge of her disappearance.  But Pastor Akpan Smauel, the General Overseer of Truth Fountain Healing Church located in Ejigbo community, a suburb in Lagos metropolis is now telling Police detectives the history of his life and, of course, all he knew about the missing child.  He has since denied knowledge of the mysterious disappearance of little Chinedu claiming that all he did was to minister to her and got her cured of a perceived ‘generational attack’.

Crime Guard learnt that Mrs Kalu and her children were asked to fast for the deliverance service after being told by Pastor Akpan , during a prophesy  session that her children are under the spell of  their ancestral spirits.  The mother of four in a bid to cleanse her children from the influence of the “ancestral spirit”, complied with the directives of the Pastor and provided the cash and other ingredients needed for the deliverance of her children.

The deliverance which took place at about 1.00 am was deemed successful by the pastor and the Evangelist, one Mary Smart who prayed to release the family from the grip of the ancient spirit.

The deliverance service later went wrong when they could not find Miss Kalu, a JSS 2 student; for close to two months now, nobody seems to know the girl’s whereabouts.
MRS. KALU’S STORY

“Last month, I told one of my friends that I needed prayer for my children.   She took me to this Calabar Church called Truth foundation healing Ministry.  I met the Reverend Pastor and they asked me to bring my children for prayers.

Evangelists Theophilus and Mary Smart

When we got there, the GO (General Overseer) said that my children have ancestral spirit disturbing them.    That was how he asked us to come for deliverance. He directed me to one Evangelist Mary  Smart, who told me to bring  N10,000. She said she was supposed to charge me N100,000 for the deliverance but since they know that I cannot afford it, I should just come with N10,000.  She asked me to also bring  native egg, native sponge, 21 unripe plantain,  five N5  and N10 notes, palm oil and groundnut oil for the deliverance.

I  gave them N 8,000  and all what they asked for.   They now told me that we should fast ,  around 1.00 am,.   This was in March, 2010 .  The GO and the evangelist conducted the deliverance inside their church.   After that, we slept off.

When I woke up in the morning, I  did not see my  15 year- old daughter again.  I raised alarm and the pastor and the evangelist told me that I should not report to the police that God will bring my daughter back.    So, since March 2010 till now, I have not seen her and that was why I went to report to the police.”Mrs Kalu said

PASTOR REACTS
Pastor Akpan, however denied the allegation. He said God will vindicate him at the end of the day.
“This woman came for deliverance with her children. That particular child that is missing now is an imbecile. The mother brought her for prayers and we prayed for her and the other children in my church. I left them inside the church and went to sleep after the deliverance which was about 1.00 am.

When I woke up and came to the church the next morning, she came to me that her daughter was missing. We looked around for her but we did not see her; I told her that God will bring her back and she even re-assured me that, that was not the first time the girl will disappear like that.  So, I said we should pray. I did not report to the police because I believe that God will bring her back”.

POLICE REACTS.
In his reaction, Lagos State Police spokes person, Frank Mba stated that  religious outfits would   be held responsible for anybody declared missing while in their custody.

“It is unfortunate that this woman went to seek for spiritual help for her children and now her daughter is missing, right inside the church. We implore people to practice their religion within the confines of the law. We are working hard to locate this girl and reunite her with her family. Anybody found guilty of the crime will be prosecuted.

Maria, mother of the missing child

This girl has gone missing since March but the case was never reported to the police , a responsible clergyman should have reported immediately and this speaks volumes about their conduct as men of God.   The CP has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter”.
