Orhuozee alive, says CONDE

A LEADER of the Congress of Niger Delta Elements, CONDE, one of the pressure groups agitating for resource control in the oil rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria, Mr Efosa Isaac Orhuozee, who went into hiding in the wake of the 2009 clamp down on activists by the Joint Military Task Force on Niger Delta (JTF), is alive and well.
A statement by CONDE said the 40-year old activist is taking refuge in an undisclosed country in Europe.

However, there are strong indications that Mr Orhuozee might have abandoned to the struggle and severed relationship with CONDE, which he was a pioneer member, for fears that his life may be in danger.

Different youth movements in Nigeria’s Niger Delta have emerged in the last ten years in protests against what they see as injustice in the distribution of crude oil resources, which is predominantly found in their region.
