LAGOS â€” Director-General of Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, NTDC, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, said the corporation would continue to create the enabling environment for the development of the sector through effective regulatory frame work, strategic engagement with stakeholders, aggressive publicity and marketing campaign, logistics including technical support for tourism events and infrastructural development.
He made this statement while delivering a paper at a business luncheon of the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lagos.
Runsewe said the corporation was encouraged by the growing awareness of Nigerians on the relevance of tourism to the development of our economy, adding: â€œThat tourism industry holds enormous potentials for fast-tracking the economy cannot be over-emphasized.â€
According to him, this is in view of its capacity to generate income and employment opportunities, protect the environment and heritage assets as well as promote national unity and international trade and corporation.
