ABUJA—STATE Governors on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last night rose from a three-hour meeting with a declaration all is well between them and the Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.
The governors also denied knowledge of any court injunction restraining the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party from organizing the planned meeting of the party, insisting that it would still hold, as scheduled.
The talks which stakeholders said were crucial took place at the official residence of Jonathan with most of the PDP Governors in attendance.
The Chairman of the PDP Governors, Governors Bukola Saraki, who is also the Chairman of the Governors Forum, disclosed that the meeting went on well but denied public view which believed that there is crack on the wall of the party.
The Governor said “we work also with the party to we are here for over three hours and you can see that we are all feeling very good over the outcome of the meetingâ€.
According to him, “we all talk over the issue of the party and how we are going to continue to work together and also to disabuse the mind of the media and the public that there is any division per se between the governors and the acting presidentâ€.
Both we the governors and the acting president will also work with the leadership of the party as we are very close now to primaries and elections to focus and move the party forward.
On the possibility NEC meeting holding today, Gov. Saraki said “I think so; there will.â€
“When reminded that some of the party members got court injunction to stop the NEC meeting he said, “Have you check to find out if they are members of the partyâ€.
Also speaking Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo Sate told State House Correspondents that there is no going back on the planned NEC meeting which holds today.
