The Nigeria Football Association may have hit it big with the Super Eagles jersey sponsors, Germany-based sports equipment giants, Adidas, as both parties have agreed to sign a new improved contract agreement on the 6th of May in Abuja.
NFA president, Sani Lulu Abdullahi, it was gathered, briefed the management of the association during a management meeting, which was held last week on his trip with the head of the associationâ€™s marketing department, Idris Adama, to Germany early this month, where they were able to secure an improvement on the Eaglesâ€™ jersey sponsorship deal with adidas.
Lulu told the management meeting that the Germany-based sports kits manufacturing giant has agreed to a 60 per cent increase in the contract.
It was gathered that the new contract which is to the tune of 3.9 million euros for a four-year period as against the initial sum of 2.9m euros was agreed by Adidas after it carefully reviewed the worth of the Eagles for the World Cup in South Africa. It also agreed to raise the quality of the Eagles jersey for the South Africa 2010 World Cup which begins in June.
It was also gathered that the contract signing ceremony, which is slated for the Fifa Goal Project section of the Abuja National Stadium would be graced by representatives of Adidas in Nigeria just as the federation has completed arrangements for an Under-13 novelty match for the occasion.
