ABUJA â€”The National Directorate of Employment, NDE, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the National Economic Reconstruction Fund, NERFUND, to facilitate enterprise creation and generate employment opportunities.
Already, a total number of 1,150 persons had been selected across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to benefit from two different schemes being jointly sponsored by the NDE and NERFUND under the MoU.
The two schemes, Basic Business Training, BBT, and Start Your Own Business, SYOB, will cost N400 million. While the BBT with 700 beneficiaries will cost N175 million, the SYOB with 450 beneficiaries will cost NDE/NERFUND partnership a total N225 million.
At the signing of the MOU, the NDE Director General, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed said as part of a concerted effort towards employment generation, the NDE has been shopping for such friendly and cooperative institutions to work with so as to further boost the realization of its mandate.
Mallam Mohammed pointed out that it was in the light of this that in 2005, the NDE approached NERFUND for collaboration.
