Sani Ndanusa, the president of Nigeria Tennis Federation is sure of having the approval of the International Tennis Federation for a Development Centre in Abuja.
Elated at the organisation of the recent Africa Junior Championship, which attracted pockets of sponsors including Kaura Motors and Danali Motors that provided all the vehicles used by the officials as well as the ITF president, Francesco Ricci Bitti, Ndanusa said he has opened talks with the ITF boss on the need to approve development centre in the Federal Capital Territory.
“Even before he laid the foundation stone for the centre court, the ITF president went on inspection visit of the National Institute for Sports hostel and saw that it was in the same complex with the tennis courts.
“He (Bitti) was happy that such facility like the NIS hostel is in the same vicinity with the tennis complex here in Abuja. Now that he has seen what is expected to be provided, we will follow up to ensure we get the approval so that it would serve the neighbouring West African sub-region and other parts of Africa that might find it difficult to travel to South Africa.
“As soon as approval is given, we are sure of technical support by the ITFâ€, Sani Ndanusa said.
