The Comedy industry in Nigeria has received a massive lift as Lucozade Boost partners, Virgin Leisure OrganizationÂ is set to invigorate this yearâ€™s Night of a Thousand Laughs. The premium brand from GlaxoSmithKline Nigeria Consumer PLC (GSK) is collaborating with the foremost comedy producers to discover new talents and take the industry to greater heights.
Night of a Thousand Laughs was established 15 years ago as a platform for home-grown talents (comedy, dance and music) to showcase their abilities and make people laugh. People from all walks of life gather to release stress and listen to acts perform.
This yearâ€™s Night of a Thousand Laughs is packaged with a â€œComedy Challengeâ€ slated to hold in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Benin City, Owerri, Port Harcourt and Calabar. It will run sporadically with a kick-off in Abuja on May 5th through June 24th and 25th, which is the grand finale. This will be aired in a Reality Television Show to a wider audience. The winner of the competition will smile home with a brand-new car and an automatic ticket to feature in the Night of A Thousand Laughs.
Speaking to pressmen in Lagos on the event, GSK Marketing Director, Mrs. Hannah Oyebanjo noted that the Night of a Thousand Laughs has provided Nigerians a circuit to experience their comedians annually. The audience encounters new comedy while the viewers at home enjoy quality time on their televisions watching the performance.
