Pastor Oyedokun  who spoke while delivering his welcome address said it is regretful that the nation had refused to pay attention to the grass-root level where abundant talents and future champions abound, saying that no nation would excel at the global stage of sports without developing its sports men and women from the grass-root level.

He said apart from relaxing the brain and improving the mental alertness of the students,  the programme was organized to identify the individual talents deposited in the participating students, with the aim of preparing them as future champions of Nigeria.

In absence of physical strength which sports offer, the clergyman said sports had in recent times proved to be the only human activity that has succeeded in mending national breaches and rallying dissenting people behind one goal.

He however, advised students not to set their affection totally on sports, to the detriment of their studies, pointing that talent in sports not backed with sound formal education may limit social acceptance in crucial life’s venture.

In his remarks, the principal of the school, Mr. Jibade Adedeji said it was regrettable that the nation was sliding backwards in sports over the years, due to carelessness and negligence on the part of the leaders.

To him, the nation would continue to engage in a fruitless exercise unless it went back to the grass-root to identify and groom the future champions, pointing out that the known sports champions in the country were all discovered through grass-root and so can’t be neglected.

Meanwhile, the highlight of the event was match past among other sporting activities. At the end of the match past, Red house emerged first and Yellow house came second. Green house took the third position while Blue house came fourth.
