BARELY few hours after he swore-in his new cabinet, the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Tuesday fired the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, Mr Ima Niboro, the Acting President has approved the appointment of a former Group Executive Director of the NNPC, Alhaji Shehu Ladan as the new (GMD)
â€œThe Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has appointed Alhaji Shehu Ladan as the new Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPCâ€.
â€œHe replaces Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi Barkindoâ€.
According to the statement, â€œLadan retired from NNPC April 6th, 2009, as Group Executive Director, Commercial and Investment. He was also former Deputy Managing Director of Nigeria LNG, Executive Director of NETCo as well as NPDC, both subsidiaries of NNPCâ€.
It said further that â€œLadan is expected to execute the administrationâ€™s vision of transforming the NNPC into a global brand and playerâ€.
Dr. Jonathan thanked Barkindo for his stewardship and wished him well in his future endeavours.
